trying to kiss ass at my new job, checking my work e-mail from home

I have incoming and outgoing server address, user name and password

I can receive e-mails but when i try to send e-mail I get an error about outgoing server

what kind of settings I need to do in outlook to make outgoing work
i know it could be several things that causing this error, give me couple ideas to make it work

It may be that your ISP is blocking it.

Did you check the box that says "Outgoing server requires authentication" (or something like that) when you set up the outgoing server for work? You will certainly need to use your login and password to gain access to the outgoing server as well.

earthlink, sbc, cox, and charter all do for some people.
