HELP! Gateway 7215gx Notebook, Audio wont work.

Hey, I recently reformatted a "Gateway 7215gx Notebook" and reinstalled XP and it's drivers. Everything seems to be working fine, except the speakers on the notebook arent working. They're just not outputting at all, no sounds, crackles or anything from them.

Windows Update found the audio drivers, gateway's site doesnt have anything listed for them. The drivers Windows Update found seem to be working, but I'm not getting audio from the speakers, only the head jack. The microphone jack works too.

At this point, I'm assuming that the speakers are just broken, but is it possible theres some sort of weird audio utility for this laptop or special drivers? Anyone have any ideas?

You might have found the wrong drivers. Did you contact Gateway for help or a link?

Many sound drives include mixers or volume control applets that enable or mute inputs and outputs. You might just need to find this and un-mute the right output.

I emailed them asking if they have special drivers or an audio utility, but they havent responded yet. The speakers were working fine before the reformat, so I'm pretty sure it's not hardware related. I just need to find the right drivers or whatever I think. I just don't know where that is.

Chris ... please try the Driver listed here at the Gateway site
It is for Sound on the 7000 series and should be correct
