Help! Gainword Geforce 4 4400 - weird characters on screen!

Hi folks,

I've just recieved 2x Gainword GeForce 4 PowerPack 700XP Golden Sample (4400) cards.

Neither is working properly! I plugged them in and one card displays weird text lines down the screen, and the other produces coloured blocks! What is wrong?

Is my 300W PSU not enough???

The PC I have tested them with are:

Abit KG7-RAID, Athlon 1.4Ghz, 512Mb DDR, 300W PSU

Abit KT7, Athlon 1Ghz, 512Mb PC133, 300W PSU

I did try it in a Compaq Deskpro EX, PIII 866 (Intel 815 mobo with AGP 4X) then I noticed it had a 145W PSU - ouch!

I've tried changing the I/O voltages, the aperture size (should be 4x), and the AGP setup to no avail.

Are both cards duff or are my power supplies too small???

Have you tried downloading the latest Detonator Drivers? Ya might wanna do that first.

HI,

These characters are actually appearing as soon as the PC is turned on!! The BIOS screen is unreadable, and the interference happens in Windows too.

I read something about the Highpoint controller causing corruption, so I upgraded its BIOS to no avail - but the cards do the same in my non-highpoint board as well.

Flash all bioses first (cards an MBs), if that doesnt fix the propblem, RMA the cards -- they probably have bad memory.
