i'm a student in college and i've only had a credit card for about 6 months now. i'm trying to hook up a nextel phone but they're insisting i put down a $500 deposit cause of my inexperienced credit history. all my payments have been on time, and my credit line has in fact been increased recently. anyone have any tips or know any supervisor at nextel?? hehe. i called the supe and left a voicemail. i guess this is just a moan thread.....peace

nextel will be tough to get since most of their customers are businesses. Why do you want Nextel phone anyway? From what I've seen they're overpriced and the service isn't as perfect as they make it out to be. You'd be better off with Sprint, Verizon, or AT&T. And those three companies aggressively market to college students...heck they probably have a booth setup somewhere on your campus.

my roommate has a nextel phone... it's pretty neat... but it's not at neat as the commercials make it look to be... everyone hears your conversation and the other person on the other side of the conversation has to have a nextel phone too (duh).... and it's kinda a bulky phone

alright, first of all, the nextel phone (i90c) is small, like the v60. i like the service cause it's a great price and their nights and weekend's start at 8 (unlike verizon and sprint which now start at 9). second of all, the other person does not have to have a nextel phone in order to call them!! that's only for the two-way radio feature which you gotta admit is pretty hot. their prices are all the same...except that nextel has extra minutes reserved for the two-way radio feature...
