My friend has decided that he is going to learn Linux and he asked me to help him. The problem is, I am able to use Linux well enough, but not not well enough to be able to answer his questions and guide him through the learning process. Do any of you guys know of some good sites for a complete n00b? He is very proficient in the M$ world, so I'm not looking for something directed at people who don't know how to use computers at all, but rather something for experienced people who are making the switch. Thanks a lot!

Man pages, IRC (freenode), and www.tldp.org (The Linux Documentation Project).

As someone who has had friends try to learn Linux before, make sure he understands that he comes to you AFTER he did some research on his own. You don't want to be showered with trivial questions just because it's easier for him to ask you than to look it up.

I'm going to have to slap you just for spelling Microsoft with a dollar sign. That conjurs up images of you sitting at your computer with Coke-bottle glasses writing Star Trek fan fiction. "From my parent's basement in Baltimore, I st4b at thee!"

Hahaha. I can't say that I read Star Trek fan fiction, nor do I wear glasses, nor do I live with my parents, but you'd better watch that hand unless you're planning on losing it. ;)

The dollar sign is to attract actual star trek reading, coke bottle glasses wearing folks who I'm sure would be much more qualified to recommend some sites to my bud than I clearly am. But thank you for your comments. :-D

The dollar sign does nothing but make you look like an idiot. The fact you posted this in the wrong forum does nothing but make you look like an idiot. The fact you did not search on this topic does nothing but make you look like an idiot. You idle threats do nothing but make you look like an idiot.

Star Trek rocks. Linux sucks.
