Help for a guitar newbie

I got a electronic guitar from a friend, but I don't have a guitar amp. I do have a AV receiver. So what is the cheapest solution I can do to use my av receiver on the guitar?

 

You can get Guitar FX Box for $20. That and a $5 cable from Radio Shack you can hook your guitar up to your computer and get the effects of dozens of pedals.
