Hey Guys..

I'm posting this message on behalf of my girlfriend's little brother...

He's 13 years old, and loves video taping stuff using a rather high-quality camcorder. He is also very good with computers. I want to set him up with a package that will allow him to do some video editing using his computer - edit movies, add text, add effects, etc:

- What kind of video card would be required? Any suggestions?
- What is the best video-editing software (for a beginner!)?
- What else should he know, what else does he need.
- Does anyone know of any good resources for beginners? Books? Sites?

Thanks in advance for fostering the creativity of a smart, young guy.

Hmm well if you want ease of use but not cheap, the first that comes to mind is the an apple imac or G4 package they sell. I believe i saw something on the news about it. They sell a computer package that allows families to easily edit make their own home videos with the camera. I would assume the software wouild be easy to use.

Furthremore, if we are speaking about strictly software, i believe Adobe Premiere is the one that will serve your purpose.

if he's got a computer already, just pick up an All in wonder pro 128 or some sort of card like that for $100 used. You can even just get him a off the shelf capture card, or tv card (they have capture) and most of them will come with Ulead's video edit software, or some other easy software
