Hi guys,

Two questions:
1. on XP, I renamed a folder with leading space, it is known that it is not valid name for win32 subsystem and may cause error on file/folder access, now I cannot delete the folder either - generally access fails. any idea how to fix the folder or delete it?
2. drag and drop a folder to another dir, however, access fails again, that folder does contain non-stand char, and mabye too long (>256 bytes). Now I cannot access or delete it , any idea to retrieve the data under this folder TIA

Hi Breweyez, I cannot rename it , whatever I do, either rename or delete, always return "access denied".
The problem occured when I upgraded from p4 to AMD a64, when I reinstalled the w2k, it insisted checking this 200gb storage HD for "consistency", then messed up with the fs. Later on I deleted the w2k and installed XP, XP did recover some bad files on this drive by again the fs inspection during reboot. However, just as I observed, right now it "randomly" causes problems when I drag and drop folders...

The only solution I can find on MSDN is to backup the data with the bad files droped and reformat the drive. But, this is 100Gb partition (100Gbx2), gosh!
