Help! Floppy won't work, and I need to format!

Its about that time to clean up my HDD, and I was going to format it, but I can't get my floppy to work. Its detected in My Computer and Hardware devices manager, but when I put a disk in and double click it in My Computer, the light goes on, but it doesn't make the noise like when it accesses the disk. I'm going to use a bootable CDROM, but I need to make sure my floppy works so that i don't have to fiddle around with it at school.

Maybe the cable is damaged or the drive itself.
Just try another one!

would something like a piece of paper be jamming it? (push up the cover and take a peek)

your floppy's formatting may have been damaged; right clich the floppy drive and select format to reformat the disk
