Help flashing GPU

Hello there,

Basically the problem i am trying to fix is that some combination of my dell (2408wfp to be exact) monitor and my MSI r4890 t2dig is malfunctioning (causing my screen to flash black every few minutes) . I have contacted them (MSI), and was told to do a number of varying steps in order to flash my GPU in order to fix this problem.

I have successfully (i believe) created my bootable flash drive. I have added the files onto my stick. I boot from the flash drive and it starts dos prompt.

It looks like this (obviously):

c:\>

When i hit 'dir', it shows the files installed on the stick. So essentially the c:\> for all intents and purposes is my usb drive (to my knowledge)?

I go through the steps:

c:\>
c:\>atiflash tv803ms.851 (which is what i am told to type in)

It comes up with a ton of complicated messages, and i do not know what to do from here. I generally just press enter a few times and nothing happens.

It is ATIflash v3.15.

From everything i read, it is supposed to flash the bios based on the previous input (c:\>atiflash tv803ms.851), but it does not.

Is there something more i must do? The information i am getting from them is spotty at best. I have heard that the usb drive cannot be represented with c:\>, but they have not told me how to change that from c:\> to a:\>, or anything like that, if it is possible, or if it even matters? I went through a bunch of steps on another website and it said it would start it as an 'a:\>' (flash drive), and it still turned out to be a c:\>, so no luck there.

Like i have said, i have no idea if there is a difference between the two? Are there any simple commands that will allow me to flash my GPU successfully (I know it gives a list of commands, but am unsure how i would input those)?

Thank you in advance. I am really in a quandary here.

edit: For clarity!

Well i have been looking into it diligently. Obsessively, perhaps.

So when i try type in.

c:\>atiflash -i

which is supposed to give me information about what ati adapters i have in my computer...It says "adapter not found". So i have read it is possible that MSI gave me a version of atiflash that does not support my GPU? Is this possible, and if so, where would i find the correct version of atiflash for my video card? I have heard something about winflash, but also heard it is more dangerous to the gpu...

We can't tell you what to do from there if you don't give us the messages.

Well i basically figured it out myself. The only problem is, i used a further updated version of ATIflash and it actually was able to find the adapter, but it still did not work, so i will continue to toil.

Honestly, their tech support gave me an atiflash that did not work on my video card. Sad day, and i am going to bed.
