Help Flashing DVD Rom firmware

I downloaded the latest firmware for my creative 1241e dvd rom. It says extract the files in a folder, then boot into dos to install. Once I get into dos, run the program, it never flashes the dvd rom. It gives me some info on the type of flashware, the author, and that is about it. I waited about 2 min with no results. It says the light on the drive should start flashing. Am I doing something wrong?
 
doesn't sound like your doing anything wrong, however I dont have that DVD rom nor have I flashed a DVD befor just CDburner and CDroms, my advice is to print out the instructions and make a checklist and go over each step one by one.

The readme from the Bios upgrade for the creative 1241e available here says that you need to run the command FL 1 for Primary Master down to FL 4 for secondary slave.

You can also get a patch to make your drive region free, should you wish to do that.
