I've followed the installation instructions to the letter (hard reset to factory defaults, confirmed; got the right file for my router/version, the "micro" "generic"), but when I log into the router's web GUI, select the dd-wrt file, and click "upload" I get an almost immediate "Upgrade failed" message. It doesn't brick the router, it just won't take the firmware and I can't progress with DD-WRT. The installation instructions just mentions "make sure you've got the right version, and don't unplug the router during the flash", but nothing addresses using the right file and the router simply refusing to take it.
Anybody else have this problem with the Linksys WRT54G v5 (which is the one with only 2MB, which is why you must use the "micro" version)?
