HELP flashing BIOS on Shuttle AK12/AK12A MotherBoard

i tried to flash the BIOS on my own last night but that led now were so i am asking the for the help of you guy's at anandtech.

well th board is the shuttle AK12A mother board i downloaded the bios form shuttle but it is not workingg right or something. im tring to get the board to support the AMD Duron Applebread CPU. because here in the next few days i plan on buying one from newegg.com i was going to buy the 1.6ghz one but now it ain't on there site they only have the 1.8ghz one so i looks like im going to buy that one.un less any of you have a Athlon XP or Duron that you are tring to get rid of ????

iv tried flashing it in window's via (winflash) but that did not help out then i tried to flash it using awdflash in DOS. But still nothing it told me things like can't find the source file and in winflash it said load correct BIOS. HELP HELP HELP. :(

I suggest sticking with the DOS flash utility for these older boards. You have to boot into true DOS, not trying to flash from a DOS window in Windows. This means obtaining a DOS boot floppy. You also need a floppy (if you use NTFS on your hard drive) with the AWDFLASH and the BIOS file. The BIOS file will probably be named something like AK12A144.BIN or something like that. Once you boot to the DOS floppy, switch to the floppy containing the AWDFLASH and the BIOS file and type in:

AWDFLASH AK12A144.BIN

Then press ENTER. Now, AK12A144.BIN is not what you actually type in, but rather the actual name (including .BIN or .AWD or whatever) of the BIOS file. If you don't type that in, the DOS flash program isn't intelligent enough to find it for you.
