Help/Fix my Upgrades

Hello everyone, I've decided I need some new upgrades/addons to my computer. I use my computer mostly for gaming and I plan to buy BF2 when it comes out so I need to beef up my rig for that.
Here are the components I plan on getting (prices are in Canadian Dollars):

Memory: 512MB PC-3200 400MHz Branded (Hynix/Samsung) $55 - 44.35 (USD) OR
Corsair ValueSelect 512MB PC3200 DDR400 $68 - 54.84 (USD)

DVD Burner: NEC ND3520 (Black) 16x DVD+/-R (OEM) $63 - 50.81 (USD) OR
Pioneer DVR-109 16X DVD+/-RW Dual Layer oem $69 - 55.65 (USD)

Hard Drive: Seagate 160G 7200rpm SATA 8M cache oem $114 - 91.94 (USD)

Im also planning to get a X800XL but Im going to wait for prices to drop after the next gen cards are released.

Please advice/comment on any changes I should make.

I like everything, but I think you should think about getting 1gb of memory, considering how cheap memory has gotten.

Memory - I recommend the corsair
Burner - I've heard great things about the NEC brand
HD - looks good

I think 1.5gb of ram would be overkill because I already have a Samsung pc3200 512mb in my system. That brings me to my next question. Does it matter if I mix samsung with corsair? Will I see a performance increase if I have both sticks from Samsung?
The reason I want to get a X800XL is the price/performance ratio. I know nvidia cards perform better in BF but I want a card which will last me about 2 years in a large range of games.
Im still undesided about the DVD burner. I've heard alot of great things from both brands. Anymore help here?

Mixing brands "should" work, but they may not work in dual channel.

The x800xl is a good choice.

You could probably pick either dvd burner, just get the one that looks the coolest or something.
