Help finding widescreen laptop

Hi all,

I did a search for "widescreen" but didn't get much help.

I'm looking to buy my wife a laptop computer for Christmas. I'm having issues finding the right model and was hoping that you all could help point me in the right direction.

Here are my requirements:

Pentium-M 1.5ghz+ OR AMD Athlon-M 2200+(ish)
512 Mb Memory
15"+ Widescreen display
DVD Drive
Battery life > 2 hours on average
Cost in the $1400 to $1500 range

Any thoughts would be most appreciated. I would prefer an AMD processor but I can't seem to find any widescreen models with AMD processors. I was looking at the Tosh Satellite P15 and was about to buy but the battery life seems to be faily weak from what I read (average of 90-100 mins tops per charge).

Does anyone know who makes the EMachine laptops or do they actually make their own?

The EMachine name isn't exactly the best in the industry but the spec's on that laptop look fairly impressive for the price at first glance...

Not exactly sure who the actual maker is
but it gets fairly decent reviews
plus e-machines biggest downfall in they're desktops anyway, is the use
of proprietary equipment but that shouldn't be a problem in a laptop.

I just got an inspiron 8600 about a month ago and its great. Should fit what you want and honestly the cpu would be better than the amd in my opinion

I would be very tempted by the Dell, but I can't get one in the configuration I want before Christmas 🙁

I'm acutally looking to sell it. The screen is in perfect condition, everything is in great. I take care of my stuff.

I upgraded it to 1GB of RAM. Battery is 2.5+ hours even after watching a full DVD Movie
