I have a rig with an x3 720 BE that im looking to upgrade with one of AMD's latest 8 core chips since MSI's site says it's compatible with a bios update to drop an FX-8350 into it (http://us.msi.com/product/mb/890FXA-GD70.html#/?div=CPUSupport). Now, this x3 720 is still a nice little chip for powering a distributed computing rig, and i'm planning on upgrading my main rig to a HAF Stacker case, which comes with the option for also adding an ITX secondary system as well, and if i do this upgrade i will have the budget for a nice GPU to toss in it for use as a backup gaming rig for friends to use again (since my 3 gpu secondary cruncher was tripping the breaker) and also to mine bitcoins with.

What I Need: A board, preferably new in box, that is ITX and takes my x3 720, and has a PCI-Express slot (preferably with sb750/850 and a full x16 slot as a result). the board can take DDR2 or 3 I have spare kits of both and don't really care about having massive ram capacity since it wont be more than a single GPU cruncher ever anyway. the board needs to take desktop memory as that is what i have available. I've tried looking around for someone who still sells one new in box on a site somewhere but have come up short since i'm out of date and forget what all shops i used to check out for parts, and all the ITX boards available now are FMx socket based which does me no good.I'm not super concerned with budget at this point but i'd expect it to be no more than $100 given it is an ITX board and they tend to be cheaper. The only board i can find right now on any manufacturers site that was made and fits my bill is the one listed bellow. any help finding other boards that might be in stock somewhere would be appreciated. if nothing gets turned up here i'll post up in FS/FT and go through that channel to see if anyone has something around. http://www.zotac.com/products/mainboards/amd-cpu/zotac-800-series/product/zotac-800-series/detail/890gx-itx-wifi.html.

It should be noted that this rig may end up with a very fast single or dual GPU card given its size constraint on the board, and i wanna maximize it's compute output ability since i have the parts and the space to put them, and I enjoy the novelty of it as well :). Also of note, buying a new board and current cpu doesnt make any sense because the x3 720 BE is still faster than any of amd's current cheaply accessable chips that can go into the ITX offerings i see on for example newegg, which has absolutely no ITX offerings in AM3+ currently

I dont think there is any AM3+ MiniITX. Only for the FM2/FM2+ socket.

One of the issues is that the AM3+ platform is an outdated 2 chip solution.

Yea but they still have tons of great chips available for it. the board i linked from zotac used to be really common, i sold dozens when i worked at frys while they were available, i just wish i'd picked one up now. Also, FM2 socket doesnt even provide anywhere near the CPU power i'd like out of such a system since it'll spend most of its lifetime crunching for that 1 GPU slot.
