I'm Helping a neighbor build a (way too expensive) computer for his son. His budget is about $300 for the motherboard and the Ram. We're getting a P4 3.2 ghz processor, so I'd like to get a solid motherboard that will allow me to overclock the processor alot, but we'd still like to put 1gb of ram in. Thanks alot for any and all suggestions :)

I'm not an Intel guy, but any current motherboard will be able to support at least 1GB RAM, as that's pretty commonplace nowadays.

Overclocking a lot, eh? Does the budget include cooling?

Overclocking a 3.2ghz why? I think the gains are minimal unless you got extreme cooling.

Oh yeah, is your neighbor and his son tech-savvy? Because if they're not you may be looking at a full time job as their tech support guy/person to beat up when things go wrong. I don't build computers for everyday people anymore, only for people who know computers to begin with or really want to learn about them.

well neither are very tech savy... i don't really mind helping them.

Yes, i know most mobo's will support 1 gb (and most now do up to 4) of ram, my real concern is a good priced one that is easy to overclock with... And for whatever reason, this guy went out and bought a water cooling system because (and i quote) "a friend at the office said it'll make the chip run faster" .. oh boy.. so i might as well o'c it. I will check the motherboard reviews.. thanks.
