I'm looking to buy 3 20"+ monitors for a triple monitor setup. It will be used for games, movies, light photoshop and lots of programming.

I read the "LCD Buyer's Guide" and found it extremely usefull. However, none of the monitor seems to fit my bill with regards to the following requirements:

- Preffered Fullscreen 4:3 Aspect Ratio, UXGA
- three 20" or larger (preffered), or one 20"+ and two 19"
- Good response time (I'm not too sensitive to ghosting)
- Good color reproduction
- DVI input of course
- Combined price for all monitors must be less than $1000, but if good enough justification can go up to $1200.

I have been eyeing the Viewsonic VP2030b, which got excellent review at behardware.com. However, it is sold out everywhere and cost quite a bit.

Any help would be much appreciated, as it is extremeley hard to find 4:3 monitors...

...almost all the non-widescreen 20" models are 1600x1200. Which, if you're into that whole "ratio" thing, is 4:3. :p There are, AFAIK, no 4:3 19" or 17" models. They're all 1280x1024 panels (5:4 ratio).

You might try the Dell 2007FP : http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/prod...spx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-4687

If you wait until they have a sale, you should be able to get them for under $400.

Matthias99,

Does the 2007fp use the same type of panel as the 2007wfp (widescreen) version? Also, my experience with Dell product & services has been poor in the past. Maybe I will give them another chance, I like the fact that they have inputs for other than VGA and DVI.

I'm open to other monitors though... It's hard to believe all gamers are converting to wideescreen... Also I wonder why the widescreen format is so popular?

I just found the Samsung 204b, that seems to fit my bill. Do anyone have any experience with this model?

From the reviews at newegg, it seems to develop some green specks/banding issues over time...

I have a couple 2007FPs that I ordered from Dell SB. I actually ended up with 3 of them for about $450 total and I'm quite happy with them.

I got in on some of the first revisions and my first two looked pretty crappy. My new ones (Rev. A02) are quite nice. My roommate who also got a 2007FP says it performs quite closely to his Viewsonic 2030b.

Dell support through SB was excellent for me. I was shipped replacements for my funky monitors with prepaid labels to send back the originals. I got brand new monitors as replacements and they look great.
