n00b!

Alright I've searched all over these forums others and several review sites to find a motherboard that has these qualities;

1. IDE RAID0 and SATA RAID0 capable (that actually works no gigaRAID for me please)
2. A BIOS where one doesn?t have to just though a hoop to get more features out of. Ctrl+f1 etc. And that actual has useable features to tweak with. (Unlike the 7n400pro2)
3. Rock solid when pushed gently forward (on air) (RAM timings and CPU assuming the RAM and CPU can take it themselves)

So far, the 7n400Pro2 would have been perfect if not for the horrible devil-resurrection pathetic excuse for ATA RAID. ... Why the hell did they even put it on the board?! (!!) Anyway, I'm thinking the 8KRA2+, but I?ve seen that it?s not a great over clocker (im not looking to do anything extreme, just light to moderate OC on air)

So if anyone has any advice as to what to look at of if they have any experience with the 8KRA2+, let me know.

Take it easy :)

the 8KRA2+ is a very nice board

you may also want to check out the MSI KT6 Delta-FIS2R link it has 4 sata ports and 3 IDE ports

Indeed I was just looking at the MSI KT6 Delta-FIS2R late last night as a continder, but Im a little afraid of the Promise ATA RAID.. I dont want to go though another bad RAID preformance chip. (hopefully it wont be the case)

i like promise controllers much better then highpoint

also promise controllers tend to work a whole lot better with optical drives, ie cdrw, dvd, etc (which depending on the person and what type of drives they primarily use that can be a big factor or not a factor at all)

The EPoX and that ECS look promising, right now i think im leaning twords the MSI for preforming a little better (in audio quality too) than the EPoX. That ECS looks identical to the MSI however, maybe even newer with a few intresting features. Havent been able to find a review yet. Thanks for the advice! :)

i almost bought the msi board myself (i ended up getting an asus a7v600 which i love)

but i was just checking the manual and it looks like the msi kt6 delta might not support ide raid... even though the promise raid controller supports 2 sata and 2 ide drives the manual makes it sound like only the sata drives can be configured in a raid
