I'm hitting brick wall after brick wall trying to find a decent job with my degree. I decided to get a second BS in computer science but have to support my self with a a decent paying job for now. I tried every avenue to get a job in social services and anything else slightly related to having a BS in Psychology. I also have over a year of computer hardware and help desk experience and just got A+ certified. I still can't get anyting decent paying. I'm talking about getting something that pays around the 25k a year mark. I tried a number of job sites, had help redoing my resume and even lost 10 pounds to look better in interviews. I went to a career place and even did mock interviews with the type of questions that would specifically be asked for the type of jobs I was applying for.
I don't know what else I could do! How much are Kidneys going for these days?

You can come to Florida and get a job as a teacher for 30K... that's how desperate they are.

You would still have time to work on your second degree, and you can support yourself at that salary down here.

Of course, you have to have the stomach for it! :D

Thank you Isla but I wouldn't be able to get a teaching certificate with a BS in Psychology, like someone with a degree like History or English could. I'm thinking about not puting down the Psychology part on my resume all together and just say I have a BS. It seems like as soon as employers see that someone has a degree in Psychology, they don't even bother with it.

Well, all the teachers I know here are saying that they are taking Psych degrees... but you will get stuck with the EH kids!

The situation is very critical here. They have run stories in the paper and believe me, they are taking anyone who is remotely qualified if they are willing.

I'm serious... it's one of the reasons I have had to pull one of my kids out of public school! We are at critical mass with our system right now. :(

Hmm...I'll look into that. I'm ready to move out of Michigan anyway, and Florida would be a nice change. Thanks for the info Isla :)

Isla> Thank you...that is pretty informative.
I see that they do take people with a Psych degree. As for working with Problem Kids, I think I might do ok with them. I could always throw in a few lyrics by Eminem to let them know "I'm down." hehehe
