Hopefully someone here can help!

After building another new rig, and successfully playing many hours of Various games on it, I decided that I wanted a little more video performace. I returned the ATI X1800XL card and picked up a new EVGA 7800 GTX 256mb card. I uninstalled the ATI software, ran driver cleaner a few times to make sure nothing was left in there, and then installed the new Nvidia card. I have tried numerous different drivers (77.77's, 81.85's, etc.), but everytime I go to launch BF2, the initial splash screen comes up, and then it dumps me back to the desktop. It will not play the "EA games" intro or anything after that. I have tried everything from re-installing BF2, the drivers, DirectX 9.0C, reverting everything in the BIOS, and nothing is working!

I am totally at my wits end here, and am starting to regret the switch :(

I can still play BF1942/ Desert Combat, and run 3dmark05 just fine.

Please! Hopefully one of you Nvidia guys knows what might be up here.
Thx in advance

When you re-installed the drivers, did you use Driver Cleaner? Also, try formatting. I hear that works 100% of the time. I could be wrong tho.

I did use Driver Cleaner, and even did it tiwce while in safe mode just to be sure. I was hoping to not have to re-format....

Try a refresh rate force of 60 for all your resolutions. I'm not saying leave it at that for the rest of your life, but just see if that temporarily remedies it.

I had the exact same problem, but different circumstances. I had BF2 installed, it worked great. I uninstalled, but then later at a LAN party I reinstalled it. This time, it did the same thing yours does now. I tried everything from patches to drivers with no success. The only thing that solved my problem was uninstalling and reinstalling BF2 AGAIN.

edit-Sorry, didn't read everything in OP, this post is sort of useless...

when you uninstalled bf2, maybe there were traces of the original installation left in your hard disk. make sure the bf2 game folder and all your previous settings profiles are deleted
