Look around here: C:\Documents and Settings\*USERNAME*\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*PROFILENAME*
look for "bookmarks.html" or "bookmarks.bak"

same here . . . it happened during a failed update.

UNrecoverable . . . they were deleted from ALL locations. :p

good thing i had 99+% of them in IE [and the rest in History]
(NOW i back them up daily])

I had a problem like that, but my bookmarks were still ok. All of my settings, passwords that were stored, and extension options got reset though. I thought mine was from the power going out while FF was open? (It was right after this that I noticed.)

What version of Firefox? This happened to me once too - think it was v1.02.

What were you doing leading up to the erasure?

damn. when you restarted and launched firefox, did it give you the dialog box to create a new profile?

Do you now have several profiles in this path? C:\Documents and Settings\*USERNAME*\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

For what it's worth, I use Mozilla and I have set up a folder for some of the critical files (C:\jadinolf Mozilla and copy them there every now and then.

It could save you some day.

This happened to me last night....bookmarks deleted, extension settings reset, and it prompts me for a new profile. I've not tried to fix the problem, but I've got a bookmark backup from about a month ago with 90% so I can always go back to that if necessary.
