I just bought FarCry, but I'm staying at my friends house and I'm trying to play it on his computer. His machine is a 1.2 Celeron, WinME, 512 mb, 32 mb TNT2 graphics card, DirectX 9.0b. Installation and everything went totally fine, but when I start FarCry, the only thing that happened was the Configuration Window and then after that --- NOTHING!!!! Help what should I do?

Let's take a look at his computer specs:

1.2 Celeron - Old, slow
32mb TNT2 - Wow, I'm suprised this boots onto the desktop ;)

FarCry is the most demanding game currently available. I tried to play it with my 3.4 Pentium 4 and a 64mb GeForce 2 Ti with bad results. I can play for about 30 minutes at the lowest visual settings and choppy frame rates, after 30 minutes, it either boots me to the desktop or restarts my computer! Old CPU + old Graphics card = NO GO.

Not trying to be mean, but seriously dude, that is an old setup with a horrid graphics card. Common sense should tell you that.

Ok. How about my laptop (that's yet to be delivered)?

1.7 Dothan
512 mb memory
128 mb Mobile Radeon 9700
WinXP
DirectX 9.0b

How well will it run there?

With the 512 mb RAm and Mobile 9700, it might run with low low visual settings. Just try it out. Maybe you should pick out a less intensive game though.

Yeah I'd forget about it with your friend's rig. It might be detecting the 32mb video card and the minimum for the game to even run is a 64mb card I think. I think that's part of the requirements IIRC. Anyway it should run okay on your laptop, maybe only 800x600 mid-details, 2x FSAA possibly too, but I don't know how the mobile 9700 is.
