Help! F key!

Ok I spilled a little sprite in my keyboard. I thought it was going to be a big catastrophe, but it's not too bad. I popped the keys off that it got into and cleaned them out, but now, the next day, all the keys are fine except my "F" key. It's sticky. Still usable (as you can see, fffffff) but it sticks a little.

What can I do to get rid of this? A little water on a Q-Tip? What?

Hmm, you could try removing the key and cleaning off the bottom of it, but chances are the stickiness is below the contact point on the keyboard. As for that, I don't have any official advice. I do remember when I had a sticky key a year or 2 ago I kept pressing it as hard as I could for a few days and it seemed to get easier.

when this happens to me, I

A) Smash the keyboard
B) Pull up the offending key with a flathead screwdriver
C) Wash it

I usually pop out the key..clean the key itself and clean the surface beneath it.

Works everytime here.. :)

I would recommend you take apart the entire keyboard by unscrewing the screws at the bottom. Mostof the newer keyboards(at least the ones I had look at) have "plastic buttons" underneath the keys. If you take the one out from underneath your f key and clean it, I bet that would fix it. But be warned, it's kind of hard to put all those "buttons" back in the same place when you are done.

hope this helps.

I'd suggest spending $10 or $15 on a new keyboard, then you can take this one apart to your heart's content. :)

Just run water straight from the faucet over the keyboard. Stake what you can off then let it dry.

Fixes even the toughest spills.

(and I am not joking one bit. Ive put water through 2 different keyboards like this and they work fine. In fact I need to do it to this one again because the T key is messing up.)

(and if it breaks then your back to where you started ;) )

Put your keyboard where ants will find it. They'll get every last drop of that Sprite outta there! ;)

Piku has it. Though I have actually stuck my keyboard under the shower faucet. It gets more even water.

Just make sure it is dry before you plug it back in (duh). A blow dryer works nicely if you are in a hurry.

Go to the local chemistry lab and swipe some potent acid. Dunk keyboard in and wait five minutes. Problem solved.
