I recently upgraded my cell phone to a new one running Windows Mobile 2003. Because of this, I want to synch my contacts and calendar. I have Office 2003Pro with Outlook. I have a ton of contacts entered into Thunderbird which I've been using for a while now. I wish I didn't have to switch, but thunderbird won't synch with the phone. How do I export my contacts to Outlook? I don't really care about exporting my emails, just the contacts.

Thunderbird/Tools/Address Book takes you to the address book.

When in address book, Tools/Export/Save File As Tab Delimited

Move the exported file where you want it.

In Outlook, File/Import/Import from ANother Program or File/Tab Separated Values

Did you try updating\installing MS ActiveSync 3.8?

Note: make sure to remove any previous versions before updating

Yeah, I have activesynch 3.8, this is my first install of it. It's not doing anything wrong though--it's not capable of synching with Thunderbird. It's an MS product, and my phone runs an MS OS, so I doubt there will ever be any 3rd party mail progs brought into that loop. Why would MS let them anyway?

Well, I have done a bit of research on the matter myself and it appears that syncing with Thunderbird is not possible yet, however, it is very likely that it soon will be. It is true that Microsoft's Activesync is not compatible with any non-Microsoft email programs but a third party syncing application by the name of intellisync allows you to do this, it is essentially replaces Activesync. Intellisync does not at this time support Thunderbird but there seems to be a lot of development happening on that front and it is likely that it soon will be able to do so.
