Hi all,

I have an internal wireless card in my laptop. I've been using a linksys wireless router for my wireless connection. I somethimes "diable" this connection because I use and ethernet cord to connect to my school's internet (it bothers me when my laptop detects other available wireless signals - the balloon that pops up bothers me so that is why i like to disable the wireless network connection). But now, when I try to disable it I get an Error Disabling Connection that reads:

It is not possible to disable the connection at this time. This connection may have one or more protocals that do not support Plug-and-Play, or it may have been initiated by another user or system account.

What is going on? I did get a virus a few weeks ago but that has been cleared out. I also use firewall protection. Can somebody help me fix this? And if you can - can you give me baby instruction - I really really need someone to hold my hand thru this. Thank you sooooo much.

can anybody help?

I tried to uncheck and recheck "network services" in add/remove windows components and that didn't work. Anyone?? Thanks.

I get that same message sometimes, when I try to disable my LinkSys wireless 'g' USB adaptor on my desktop machine. I guess it's the drivers. Regardless, a few second after seeing that error message, I see that the wireless adaptor is indeed disabled.

Thanks virtuallarry. the thing is, when i click the OK button and wait, it still will not disable or enable (depends on which mode i have it set on from the configure buttone under properties) i've tried searching google for the quote i get but no one seems to have it completely figured out yet, or if it did "fix" they don't know how it happened. I don't know if it's a windows Xp problem, or teh way teh wireless is set up or the drivers (somebody suggested updating the drivers, but when i click on updating the driver forhte wireless, it asks me to insert the disk and I don't have one....so I dun't know how I am suppose to update the driver.)
