I upgraded by cpu from a 1700 T-bred to a 2400 T-bred the other day and everything was working fine. A problem started last night where it would sometimes hang at the post screen at the point, where on older boards, it would run the memory count. I'd reboot and it would start up fine....sometimes. Now this am, it hangs all the time and I'm getting a code 52 (Test all memory- clear all extended memory to zero) I've tried switching the ram around (2 x 256 mg. sticks of Crucial pc2700) to different slots. Trying one stick at a time. Trying some Infineon ram out of another system. Tried clearing the CMOS. all a no go. Could the memory controller gone shitza? I can't even get into the bios :(

Tia.

Try this: put the old CPU back in and run it for a while. See if it's stable after that.

Yes, I've had a bad CPU. I ordered a 1700+ Tbred B to upgrade/overclock, and my 8KHA+ rev. 2 became very unstable. After I switched the CPU back, it was stable again. So I RMA'd the chip, got a new 1700+, and now is all good :)

Well, I took it out of the case and it started up with the cpu/ram/video card installed. Added everything else and it worked fine. I did add insulators to the mb riser's while I had it out, thinking that maybe something was grounding out and reinstalled it back in my Antec SX 830 case and so far. all's well ;) Have my fingers crossed here.
btw, thanks for the reply.
