And it wouldn't work, either. The password is in the BIOS, not on the hard drive.

But removing the battery would work, if you can't find the jumper that clears the CMOS.
 
thnx workin' 🙂 ....with reference to the a: i simply meant i could get an OS on the HD...then at least be able to access a: even though I could not boot from it...thnx again for your advice 🙂
 
ad to hear that you got it working... Good joke to play on people too... Setting the user password without telling them... unless they are computer savvy, lots of fun to watch them sweat...
 
My 486 board had a battery that plugged into the board. To clear the cmos I had to unplug the battery and short the pins. This won't necessecarily work but another option to check out.
