Im running xp, I dont know what the crap is wrong.

I tried enabling the DMA setting but I dont know if i checked the right one.
Does resolution matter? I use 1152 x 864
Soundblaser live! 5.1

I tried searching but couldnt find anything.
I use powerdvd or the interactual player software that comes on some dvds free.

I dont know how to tweek this anymore.
Sigh...makes me want to unsubscribe to netflix real bad.
Thanks

Is it very choppy or how is *crap*?

What are the specs of your machine.

What stuff do you have running in the background?

Maybe it is just time to format your machine.

some times it runs fine. It is mostly a sound --> video sync problem.
I forget which is first but the video and sound do not play in sync together.
I have an asus a7v133 with a 900mhz chip.
1gig of ram.
anything else u may need is in my rig below. but i listed all the important stuff already.

will a reformat help? I figured since dma is enabled it doesnt use up as much cpu.

i dunno.

Does it do this for all discs or just a certain title?

Is the discs that it screws up on free of obvious physical defects?

Probably a format then. How long since your last format?

Usually after a while your computer accumalates lots of 'crap' on it. Stuff you d/l and put on trial versions, games installed and removed etc.

A format should help no doubt. My other is running slow now, but after a format and a 8 or so months after it it runs PERFECTLY. Now it feels laggy but DVDs play fine on it.

i reformatted about 5 months ago when i installed xp pro.
Im not sure if you mean defragment or a complete format though?

i have not defraged for probably 2 months now. But if i remember correctly, its has always ran kinda janky.

gonna go watch bad santa tonight. So ill defrag and see if it helps any...if thats what you really meant.

thanks

Defrag might help. Else there's a good chance the drive is shot. Do you have another computer you can try it on just to be sure? Oh, and make sure the cables are all in tight.

dma is enabled...but in XP, it is under the hard disk controller... someone correct me if im wrong.
It is not under the drive properties anymore.

ill check my wires.

ill try the defrag and see if it does anything.
if not ill try another drive.
ill post when i find out.
thanks everyone.
