*Help DVD Drive Cant See Blank DVD's /CD's*

One day it just stopped working.

It can read DVD'S & CD's fine, it's just any and I mean any clean DVD R's or CD'rs and it refuses to see them.

I have a feeling maybe a shell extension is the problem or perhaps a windows service.

One day it works, the next no :-(


Please guys, you will save me money by getting this working, else i'l have to take it into the shop.

Try removing the drive in the device manager and let Windows reinstall it.

sometimes drive do break
if it doesnt work on another system its borked. i have a drive that reads dvds fine, but fails on burns for instnace

Agreed...my wife's machine had my trusty old Plextor 12/4/32 up until six months ago. It could still read discs with no problem, but one day disc burns suddenly produced nothing but coasters. I wasn't really using my 48/24/48A (except for ripping or software installations), so she got a pleasant little upgrade...

its always been my experience with PCs that things either last for ages or die in the first few months....
