My computer stats will be listed below. I have a Duron 700 and had it running at 998 and 1007 (9.5 x 105, 9.5 x 106), both cases I am using 1.85v. For the majority of the last 3 days everything has been fine, but today and some of last night my computer will freeze all of a sudden (no blue screen) and after I reboot it will display the processor as 578mhz or something. Basically for some reason the multiplier is changing from 9.5 to 5.0 or 5.5. I tried erasing all pencil marks on the L1 bridges and redoing them and I'm still having the problem. Any ideas? Perhaps one of the bridges needs to be darker, but which? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

what is ur heat levels at? i had troubles with heat since i am RC5ing all the time so it makes my CPU load at 100%. (using FOP32-1) Anyways, make sure ur VIA 4 in 1 are up to date..i think there is a 4.25a that is available from Apushardware.com. Its a beta release, but it fixes some Win2k specific issues. So check heat and drivers...

good luck and lemme know if it works out for u.

I would say that it's a good chance that the pincil markings are either wearing away or just need to be redone altogether. I had similar problems with my 800MHz.. I'd start getting a lot of illegal operations and such, then when I rebooted, it'd show something like 721MHz. After redoing the pencil trick, I didn't have the problem anymore.

I'm running 7.0 x 100 right now just because I needed to do somethings without crashing. When I was at 106 x 9.5 = 1007 and playing quake 3 or using Seti@home w/ 100% cpu load i saw 114 F max for cpu temperature, idle it was around 107 or so. I forget the temperatures in C. I'm gonna check out apushardware.com now and check for an update. I'll post an update in a little while.

Ok well I tried getting the new drivers and it seems like Microstar is even better then I thought. The drivers that came with my motherboard were 4.25a. Anyway, I tried restarting and messing with the multiplier again, this time with a 100 FSB just to get it to work. I was unable to get it to post correctly. It kept coming up with 500mhz/550mhz. I am thinking it has something to do with my pencil so I may try and redo the bridges again. BTW I have the most up to date MSI pro2a bios and using the onboard sound if that matters. The only device I have in the PCI is my ethernet card (3com 3c905b-tx). Another weird thing that has been occuring sometimes is that when I'm in the OS surfing a webpage or whatever I'll notice win2k telling me that my network cable has been unplugged then in a second will say 100mbps LAN connected. Dont know what that means. Well I'm going to try re doing the pencil work again.
