OK, I know this thread is very old, but it's pretty much as good today as it was in 2002, and since this dullard post is great and utterly classic I'm quoting it. Bravo! Ran into this in a Google search on "liquid plumber vs drano max." G'mornin'Since I'm a cheapskate and since I don't want to harm the environment I always use a coat hanger or more frequently a large paperclip. Nothing works better, but it does take about 5 minutes of labor. So if you don't want to do the labor and if the drain isn't too clogged, then just baking soda and vinegar will usually do the trick. But for big clogs, baking soda and vinegar isn't powerful enough - sometimes even Drano and Liquid Plumr aren't powerful enough. In that case the coat hanger or snake will be your only option (but how many of us have a plumbing snake?)
