So I got myself a VPS account with 2 IPs and 3 domain names (d.org, d.net and d.com) each with different content/accounts.
I setup d.org as the main domain thinking I would use it as a nameserver for all the other domains. That idea has worked - got it all setup using lxadmin (appears to use BIND). Then I went on to mail using qmail. Again no problems - setup all the accounts on the different d.net and d.com accounts - they are working fine in the sense they store mail HOWEVER they seem to authenticate to the mailserver on the d.org account along with their own DNS entires that have d.net and d.com. But the odd thing is while i can authenticate to the mail.d.net/com accounts it is very random and once every so often outlook will tell me there is a DNS error. I switch it to mail.d.org (for a .net or .com account) and it works fine all day.
Is there something glaringly obvious here or am I stuck sifting through BIND config files? why would mail on 1 domain authenticate only every so often on its own but fine on another?
