Hello all,

I am hoping someone can help me. I have a sony Vaio laptop, I lost my powercord that came with it and bought a new one from radio shak.

Tried using the new one and nothing happened. Then I used my roomates (He has same laptop as me) and it doesnt work anymore.

It worked great until i used the new cord, i was able to use my roomates cord with no problem.

Did i blow the Mobo on the laptop or could it be the powersupply?

Any help would be appreciated.

Using the one you bought from radioshack=very very very very bad idea, and you very likely fried something...so they have even remotly similar input/output voltages and amps?

if they had similiar voltage and amps it shouldnt have been a problem. If you took the cable in and they matched you up with one it should have been ok, assuming the guy in radio shack was semi competant.

Also if it was the same polarity.

laptops have powersupplies?

i thought they had an adapter which turned the AC power from your wall into DC for the laptop... i guess you could call the adapter a power supply.
