help diagnosing heat problem

cpu - athlon 2500+, barton
psu - antec 380
mb - pcchips m863g(?)

my cpu/mb/psu temps seem to fluctuate but i can't figure out why. they are usually in the range of 20 C - 70 C. are the heat sensors out of whack or is it because my room is quite warm? is it because of my crappy second hand motherboard? my computer has never exhibited any behavior that would indicate a heat problem am i just too stoned and foolish to worry about temperatures if my stuff is working correctly? respon dsoon thanks

open a window in your room and let some of the smoke out.

you might want to put an extra case fan in, and make sure the fans are blowing the right way [yes there is a right way].
Tie up some of the cables in the case so that they don't impede air flow.

other than that, if there are no probs, and your cpu isnt going over 60 that regularly, i wouldn't worry TOO much

70 deg. C is very high. My Tbred 1800+ is o/c'd to 2 GHz (2400+), and it never gets over 40 deg. C on the warmest summer day in Southern Ca. I've got a pretty hefty HS/Fan on it.

Are you sure your HS/Fan is mounted corrrectly? Did you use a VERY thin coat of thermal compound? If not, you may not be getting the best thermal conductivity from the CPU to the HS/Fan.
