This only happens with COD4. See the image link below. Why is my card rendering
these washed out images.

It was working perfectly fine for about a week but last night as one match ended
and another loaded this started happening. FEAR works fine. No problems with
Quake Wars.

CPU - Q6600
Card - 8800GTS.
PSU - Corsair 620.
Mem - 2 Gigs of GSkill
Gigabyte P35 mobo

Seems like a driver issue, I know in CS:S this happens sometimes when you change levels or alt-tab out of the game. The fix there is to quit completely out of the game and log back in. If that doesn't work you could try new drivers, but make sure you clean out the old ones through Add/Remove programs. If reinstalling the drivers doesn't work and you are using beta's try retail drivers.

Could also be a heat issue though doesn't look like a heat issue. If its a heat issue check your GPU core temps with Rivatuner and try setting up automatic fan speeds. Try driver suggestions first.

thanks alot. i used driver cleaner pro to uninstall old drivers and re-install the new forceware 163.75 that were released november 6th.

but i still have the same issue.

with regards to heat, i'm using the stock fan. core temps read (via rivatuner) 70 degrees C idle.

i don't know how accurate rivaturner is but its so wierd that none of the other games are affected at all.

70c idle is high and I would ramp-up your fan speed.

The latest certified drivers are 169.02

Not sure if it'll fix the problem, but I would set in Nvidia Control Panel 3D Settings, 'Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias' to 'Clamp'

I'm using the 169.04 drivers and COD4 runs flawless on them. Best drivers in a while from nvidia IMO. They are beta, but they run better for me than the official's.

thanks again.

my fan speed was low. i dialed it up to 85% (from around 30).

temps are slowly beginning to dip. they are now at 62 degrees after a only a few minutes.

where should they be ?

ps - the 'negative LOD bias' switch did not work.

no dice.

temps bottomed out in the high-50s.

under load they climed to the low-60s but the bleached effect remains.

i may as well re-install game.

Sounding like a driver conflict with the game so yeah try reinstalling the game. Hope that works for you also, if you don't like the loud noise from the fan @ 85%, you can setup auto fan which will change the fan speed automatically for you. Follow this guide.
