So my computer keeps resetting and i can't seem to figure out why. I recently changed my power supply and i keep my pc open. I did have it OC before slighlty but i've reversed that back to stock and it seems that was not the problem either. i dont run games on this pc anymore, just use it for internet and such. The resettign seems to be at random. I cant seem to find a pattern as to when it's doing it.

I recently formatted and reinstalled a OEM version of Win Xp (legit copy) and re loaded all my software back in. The problem started occuring after i did this :S

I have read in this forum a problem like such can be diagnosed by looking at mini dump files. I have included a zip file of my mini dump directory (approx 20 dmp files) and I would appreciate it if somebody can help me through this. I have a feeling it's software issue just cant seem to figure out what it is.

Thanks in advance guys, do appreciate the assistance :)

here's the link to where i have uploaded the minidump files

Guys,

Not sure but frequently random restarts are a consequence of over heating. Have you checked your CPU temps lately? Do that and if they are high (suggest 40C-50C at idle), remove your HSF and CPU and clean the old paste off, re-install the CPU and re-paste and re-install the HSF. (BTW couldn't open the minidump files, not sure how)

One other poster suggested random starts could be caused by bad RAM. If you're not getting high temps, remove all but 1 stick of RAM (keep it in slot #1) and re-start, see what happens. If it's OK, test your other RAM sicks in like fashion to see if they are each also good.

Hope this helps,

Noel

My cpu is at 63c running at 100% load for a good hour now. I'm running orthos on it and so far so good. Too soon to tell for sure, but I think it is a software issue. I might reinstall windows if it doesn't find anything tonight.

I can make it crash a lot by datamining fulltiltpoker with my heads up display running. I got it to restart 3 times last night in about 7 hours and I wasn't trying to crash it. It's cpu intensive, but the programs are very makeshift and they could have some bugs that causes my computer to crash.

The only thing is it will crash occasionally when I'm not running anything, I just have my computer on with firefox open. It just started doing this about a week ago and it's never done it before.

Well I fixed my problem. I repaired my windows install which made my postgres stop working. So I reinstalled that and now everything works great. I have a feeling it was postgres.
