Just changed the CPU fan for my new computer and then turned it on

and it seems to turn on, but after a beep sound, it shuts down by itself. Anyone has this kind of trouble before?

Mobo: MSI 6380 E
(not overclocked)

CPU: AMD XP 2000+
CPU fan: Volcano 9( just changed to this)

Pls reply asap!
Am Kinda worried that the CPU/mobo is burned or something...

Thanks!

Hmm, I dunno if this will help or not, but it kind of describes a problem I had when I first built my computer. I powered it on, the fans would run for a few seconds and power back down by itself. I don't remember any beeps, though. I reset the CMOS (took out battery on the mobo for a few seconds) and tried again and it worked fine.

I dunno if this is really applicable, but maybe it's worth a try.

I did what you said and it starts up at least.. now i can enter into the bios and see what's inside... my CPU's temperature is 50 degrees celcius at 5400rpm for the fan, which I think is much higher than what I would have expected from a Volcano 9 Fan. I was using my old Alpha Fan earlier on and it was only around 45. I think this could be due to the CPU too near the power supply fan... they're only like 1/10 inch apart... coz the casing's a mid sized one.

Anyway, I still have a problem...........
My question is.. when I try to get into the operating system(WinXp), the computer will automatically shut down, know why that is so? I don't mind replacing my old fan if it would work, but i really wonder if it is WinXP that is causing the problem.

If anyone can diagnose this problem, pls i beeseech you, PM me or reply asap. Thanks!

50 degrees Celcius is WAY to hot for a system that has just turned on!!!

Are you sure it is the correct cooler for your CPU? Did you read the instructions on the cooler? Some of them have to be used with the pad in place on some applications and off on others. What kind of thermal paste are you using?
