I have Windows XP installed on one partition (thinking I'd go back to it), and Vista Ultimate installed on the second partition. Due to tons and tons of work files I have, I would rather delete the XP parition without it harming Vista. Vista is C: and XP is D:. I'm thinking that the bootloader is on my windows XP partition, so that would mean if I deleted it then I'd have to rebuild the MBR, right? Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Brent

Will it mess with my Vista partition? And also what about the bootloader problem?
Because when I tried to delete the XP partition using the command line "diskpart.exe" and it said "This partition is currently in use".

I don't know. It may. I've only used it to clean an entire disk of problem partitions. Partition Magic will allow you to remove one of more selected partitions without wiping others, and it will allow you to spread the remaining partitions over the freed up space.

Download the full trial version of Bootit NG from Terabyteunlimited.com. WARNING: THIS IS A VERY POWERFULL TOOL TO NON-DESTRUCTIVELY PARTITION DATA. Image your data/OS on another HDD before tinkering with your OS HDD!

While in Vista, right click on "My Computer" and select "Manage".
In the left pane of the new window that opens up, click on "Disk Management".

Locate your Vista partition in the right pane. What does it say on it?
If it says "System, Boot, Active, ...", there will be no problem with deleting the other, XP, partition.

But, if The XP partition is the Boot partition, deleting it, will affect your Vista.
In that case, you can repair Vista if you have your Vista DVD.

Well I ended up using BartPE to manually go i and delete the XP partition without any troubles.

The only troubles I have now, is, a booting problem.

on startup I get:
"ntldr is missing"

I hear EasyBCD is a good program to use, but you have to actually be logged into the desktop of Vista to install it and everything.. it's weird.. ??

any suggestions?!

Nevermind. Problem Resolved.

After 10 hours. Problem has been resolved.

Tip for everyone:
If windows startup repair doesn't work, might want to install raid drivers on a floppy.

Thank God I'm done with this! So frustrating.
