I've been with AMD for a long time now and haven't gotten around learning Intel's new chipsets. I just thought it would be good to know something about them just incase I decide to go Intel on my next upgrade. I understand that going higher is usually better (865 to 875) but what does the letters G, P, and PE mean? and let's say for the 865 series, which letter is considered better than the other?

In terms of performance, PE is fastest, then P, then G. The G has integrated graphics.

for 865 chipsets, all support HT, all support dual channel

PE supports 800mhz bus.
G is basically PE but with integrated graphics
P support only 533 bus

intel chipset 848 support single channel , but support 800bus. HT too of course.
