I buy video cards in cycles and luckily today is the day to upgrade. I'm going for a 9800gx2 and I'm purchasing from newegg but I'm unsure which 9800gx2 I should get. So far I like the BFG Tech card because it comes with an HDMI cord which I can plug directly into my 22 inch HP monitor. Can I get your inputs?

get an evga card. when the gtx280 comes out and has the same or better performance than the gx2, you can step up probably for 100 dollars or less.

EVGA allows you to "Step-Up" to a new card if one comes out by trading in your old card and paying the price difference ([New card price] - [Price you paid for your card] = [Price you pay]). It's limited to about 90 days if I remember right, but considering that the GTX 280 should be out in volume by late June/early July you'll be able to purchase the 9800GX2 now, enjoy it for a month and a half, then upgrade to even greater gaming goodness when the GTX 280 arrives.

I have had very good luck with both EVGA and BFG, I've cards from both that were were returned after 3 years of use and replaced under the life time warranty that both offer. Also, have taken advantage of the step up program from EVGA. I guess BFG has it now to, for me it would come down to the price/rebates etc... but build quality and service wise both are awsome.

And EVGA is local here in So. Cal, where BFG is in IL so you could go on how long your shipments will take.

buy a GX2? are you on crack?
The step up program from evga is grossly overrated, it uses vastly inflated prices, limited availability, and ABSOLUTELY NO CROSS SHIPPING.
THE GX2 is huge, its hot, it is noisy, it uses inefficient and buggy multi GPU implementation and so on and so on...

Waiting LESS THEN THREE WEEKS for the next gen parts is NOT going to kill you.
The GTX 280 should annihilate the GX2, and you could always buy more GTX 280s for up to tri SLI.

The prices when new cards come out are not grossly inflated. They go for the MSRP, which Online retailers will be charging, or in cases like the 8800GT last year, more than the MSRP when the cards first come out and until supply demands ease.

Right now, the costs at EVGA are inflated because they are charing the MSRP. When people stepup in Late June/July/August EVGA wont be charge much more than places like Newegg.
