Help Deciding Between Two Low-End Video Cards

I'm looking at the EVGA 01G-P3-3731-KR and 02G-P3-3733-KR. They are the same in all respects, except the first has 1GB of memory and the second has 2GB, and the price difference is $5.00. I was wondering what kind of benefits I could expect from the increased memory, particularly when gaming? I'm using it in an old Core2 Duo system with a native resolution of 1280x1024.

Faster card; and with the rebate; same price as the 2 gig card. You'll won't bottle neck as much.

But depending on your budget if you can stretch to a 260 would be even better....but if you're just looking for something now....🙂

250 2 gig is the faster card.

I agree with MeldarthX. At this part of the market you'll see huge gains if you can reach something like the R7 250/260X

The R7 250(X) and the 7770 are based on the same card as far as I know. I would really advise going for a 2GB card if you can.

I know original is a stretch; but in the end its only 10 dollars roughly over budget

R250X = HD7770 = 640 shaders

R250 = 384 shaders

I think the 250 is still faster than a 730.

GT 740 (GTX 650 rebrand without a six pin). Same performance as the R7 250 and cheaper after rebate.

100% agreed on the 250X. Moving to the 7770 rebrand i.e. 250X is a HUGE step up from the 250/740 for not all that much more money. It'll easily last you a lot longer. IMO the 250x is more economical because you can use it longer before you'll have to upgrade it again but its only a little more expensive in the first place
