Hi,

First of all I would like to say, what a great site this is, it has helped me no end already.

But i need some advice about laptops, I have searched and found the following deals, but i am unsure which is the better deal, or if there is a better deal than these two.

http://www.asuslaptop.co.uk/proddetail.php?prod=UL30A-QX131V&cat=68

http://www.asuslaptop.co.uk/proddetail.php?prod=K50IJ-SX138V&cat=68

Budget: £300-£500
Use: Surfing Web, Watching movies, music and using Word, Excel etc for my work.
Os: Must be Windows 7

I will not be playing games on this laptop so it doesnt need to be a top spec, but obviously i would like somthing that is quite quick when browsing the web, doing my work and listening to music.

Thanks for any help in advance

The Asus UL80vt got pretty good praise in the preview here on AT's mobile review section for computing performance (considering the overclocked CPU) and battery life. That preview should give you a good idea of the performance of the UL30As as far as the CPU is concerned. The UL30A doesn't have the discrete graphics, but you mentioned you're not concerned about gaming. The UL30vt, if released, will have the discrete card.

Over at notebookreview.com, the UL80vt was given very poor marks for build quality. Enough so that it gives me pause in considering the Asus ULs for purchase. You should definitely check out their forums.

Also consider the HP dm3t/dm3z which has been reported to have great build quality.
