Help! Data Recovery Needed

A friends computer of mine recently had a virus. The virus corrupted the partition table. Windows will not boot. When I went to DOS through his Bootdisk, his hard drive was not accesible. I ran FDISK and it did not see the partition at all.

I dont think all the data has been lost though. He is trying to recover some files off this drive before he re-formats it.

So my question is, Does anyone know of a data recovery utility I could use in this situation where the parition table has been lost? Thanks for the help!

After much work with this problem, I now can reccomend GetDataBack for FAT. The program worked great for my needs. Unfortunately the files I was hopeing to recover had already been edited by the virus and had been made useless. Thanks for the great link though, Bojax!

that program rules. i used the NTFS one and the FAT one on my brother's computer. Life saving program at it's best. it saved me 30gigs and my brother 60gigs. so glad people found this program. gotta love it.

Oh! boy it happened to me too...

GetDataBack is pretty expensive for this kind of rare usage ..

When I used the downloaded version 1.04 (NTFS), it showed me most (99%) of the files in its explorer. But I could not recover any of them..

Is there a free s/w which can do this task?

Please help .....
