Hi..I built and AMD system o/c it to 1.2@1386 to 1400 first with W98 first edition..with all the updates...then had some o/cing problem and decided to WinMe

I ran NOLF on W98 setup at 1400 with registry checker off so I could boot in and run at 1400 and no crashes but system not real stable with it set at 1400 and registry checker....so off I go to WinMe

Tbird 1.2@1.386
Asus A7V133 bios 1.001D
256 mg of Mosel Vitellic ram...set at cas222 optimal
V5 5500 pci

Install everything with WinMe...no problems very stable at 1386..and I install Intel Anypoint Home network...I have some problems and nuke a nic card or so I thought get new one and reinstall winMe and network works...stupid me try to o/c from 1386 to 1400 and system crashes...reboot and network messed up...play around a bit and restart after another crash..strange message comes up about being standby mode(never used or turned it on)...message to turn off or on...I turn it off and boom everything seems ok...running WinMe fine at 1386(9.5 x 146) and network works .....I have not tried a game...so install NOLF..go to run and black screen...after checking around I change resolution to 800x600x32 at startup and I go in and runs switch to 1024 x 768 x16 on my V5 and play for 40 min ..can not seem to save any games then it crashes an I can not get it to run..everytime I try to run I hit launch and black screen and crash reboot...so I change all my drivers no beta only last MS approved V5 drivers still no go...ok

Must be the game so I uninstall and install Alice opengl..same problem ..game go through cd check and console pops up and then black screen...so WTF

I go into direct x and try to run direct draw no problems..go to run direct 3d accel software lockups once and hardware crashes evertime....so reinstall Direct X 8.0 4.08.00.0400...and happens again...

So what do I do ....by the way is that build of directx 8 a beta or certified???

I reset the system to default 1200 no o/c same problem..changed ram to settings to normal and default bios detect speed

So am I screwed and need to reinstall Windows again????

Any ideas

Thanks

The registry is probably corrupted.. try RegClean first, or some other registry fixer see if it helps (of course, backup the current one first, in case the fix work the other way :p). but I have no idea whether it'll fix your problem.. might as well redo the whole thing (since the extent of the damage is unknown).

If I were you, I'd put everything together (apps, drivers..) before I start to OC the system... :D:p

Yea...I only started o/cing after I installed all software except networking....but I was running the system at a stable o/cing speed that never gave me trouble..just when I tried to push it a bit that all hell broke loose....I will try registry clen but I suspect your right...I screwed myself
Thanks

I do have back up with cdresq prior to networking and will try this and see where I am at...

Interesting my Sandra score dropped too....can not figure this out at all...
1.2@1386 cpu 3960
fpu 1935

with problem cpu 3700-3800
fpu 1700-1800

memory scores dropped from 550/600 to 470-520/520-570

Something real is screwed.
