*** HELP!CURSOR WONT STAY STILL!***

Friend has a computer and the darned cursor wont stay still,you cant controll it to click on anything.Any ideas as to what it might be thats causing this?😕

He just emailed me and I thought maybe it was a virus or something you guys might now about.HEs running windblows I know that.😱

my guess: a) mouse driver b) some sort of I/O or IRQ Conflict c) netbus, backorifice, remoteadmin, or other such programs

Need to know if the mouse is USB, PS2, or serial. Who makes it and what was done on the system prior to the problem.

There are viruses that do cause erratic cursor behavior. Do a full antivirus scan, as well as the suggestions the others have given.

My guess is that it is a scrollable mouse. They often cause just these kinds of problems. Change mice and see if the problem stays or goes.

Comet Cursor can do that. I've seen a bad motherboard do this also.

Could a key be stuck on his keyboard possibly, or maybe his mouse is junk. Sounds like it is probably something really simple, either that or it's a virus that is going to suck your friend's computer into oblivion, but my bet is on the former.
