HELP: cpu wont work.

So got this new cpu on AT (well, used) 3.0e Pentium 4. I hvae the IS7 mobo.
I had 2.4b pentium before. I upgraded the bios to the latest version.
I took the old cpu out and put in the new one, and it wont boot at all.
the drives, fans, etc are all working...but the monitor doesnt turn on at all...
I tried a different graphics card, and stil same thing.
Then I went back to my old cpu, and old graphics card, and everything is working....

any ideas?

um cpu might be busted.... if you put back the old cpu.... them um the new cpu you bought might be busted or... you need to get a new mobo... sometimes the flashing of the BIOS might not cut it...

yeah...pretty sure now that the 3.0e cpu is busted. will be returning to the seller (skreet). BTW...he is a great seller...no hassle, agreed to his bad packaging, and gave a return right away including return shipping cost. Awesome Awesome experience with him.

Anyways, I put back my old cpu in, and now thats working well and fine.

If you have an older revision of the motherboard, it may just not support prescotts. The revision number is usualy printed somewhere on the board, near the name, usualy in between PCI slots. You can look here to see what revisions of the board support prescotts.

Its been a while (3 years) since ive had it, but I thought i am sure it was revision 1.0 or later. not at my computer now...but will check later today.

Did you try clearing the CMOS by jumper before putting in the new CPU? Also, as said above, your mobo and BIOS must support Prescot CPU's.

yup, and bios does support it. As fas as I know mobo v. 1.0 is the earliest of IS7, and it supports prescotts. i have returned the cpu now.
Im leaning more and more towards a northwood now anyways. they are cooler and overclock better. trying to look where i can get a 30 cap 3.0ghz northwood
