how do I do this?

I was trying to upload this video I made using image pixela with my dvd handicam and sadly but I got an error saying "only wmv, mpg, avi, asx, mov. are allowed" or something to that nature.

How do I convert file types?

Im a n00b when it comes to these sorts of things so any help will be appreciated.
