I have a 5 minute .mpg file which is 490mb and I need to make it smaller so it is easier to download

I ran it through Gordian Knot, and the video came out fine, but the audio didn't work :(

It's works perfectly in the .mpg file

I also have a .ts part of the file

Can I do anything with the .ts file and convert THAT to divx?

Did you get it yet ?

I suggested virtualdubmod also ...

video --> compression --> divx... then use somewhere in the 700-900kbps range.
audio --> streams --> stream list --> right-click --> full processing mode, then right-click (again) --> compression --> choose mp3 with about 24bit/24000Hz.

File --> save as whatever.avi and you should be set.

Whenever I go to save, it says "No audio decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio format"

just grab the klite codec pack and get it over with. ;) I never had a problem after installing that. I do conversion/encodes almost daily.

find AutoGK.... it's great for beginners and will encode from a dvd or ts to xvid/divx.

if you use autogk, be aware that it installs some adware called DAE. it's easy to remove though.
