i was thinking about getting the asus p5l-vm, but i don't know if that's a good motherboard to get or not.

i want to stick with an asus board because i'm not a pro overclocker by any means and would like to just use the ai function to get my e6400 up to 3.1+

any suggestions?

if you think i'd do better with another motherboard that would be really easy to use and overclock in a sff case, by all means, please guide me.

Well, I got some good news and some bad news for you. Right now there arent any good Conroe mATX mobos that overclock really well. Thats the bad news. The good news is that of the few Conroe mATX mobos that do overclock ASUS probably has the best so far.

Its the ASUS P5LD2-VM R2.0. Its BIOS allows for up to 350fsb overclock but so far best stable I have heard of is 333fsb with a E6400. Problem is that it doesnt have a PCIe frequency lock and as you overclock it the PCIe setting goes up as you overclock. When you get to 300fsb things start to go bad. Built in NIC and sound goes out on the mobo. This is something that happens with all the Conroe mATX from what I been reading. I know because I been researching for a SFF build myself. So people are limited to about 300fsb right now which isnt that much considering since default is 266. It is a good stable mobo though if you arent into overclocking from what I have heard. Not alot of info out about it yet. Just a handful of people seem to have it.

Right now AMD mATX mobos are the best overclockers. The ABIT NF-M2 appears to be the best in this category. ABIT does have a Conroe version coming out, the IB-90 HB its called. Not out yet. So far only a pic has surfaced on the Net. Rumors say another month or two before its released. Its hoped this will be the long awaited mATX Conroe mobo that is a great overclocker everyone has been wanting. Lot of people watching for this mobo.

Edit: Here is a link to the HardForum thread where the discussion is currently underway and I know XtremeSystems (XS) has a couple threads about the P5LD2-VM R2.0 as well. Do a search for it there.
